Wine can be intimidating, from a wide range of wine selection to how to taste the wine properly. It is caused the diffculty to find a platform to learn about wine. Because of that and as implied by our name, Taylor's Wine and Dine Club organises various basic wine tasting events. These not only educate Taylor's University students on how to taste wines; but also to give opportunities for those who are interested to explore more about the wine world.

WINE BAR OUTING

Saturday, 19 September 2015 | Vintry, Jaya33

As implied by the name and concept of Taylor’s Wine and Dine Club, we took a leap out of our usual comfort zone and organized a Wine Bar Outing, which happened to be one of the few activities organized out-campus. The outing was held on the 19th September 2015 at Vintry, Jaya 33.

During the outing, Club Members learned the basics of wine tasting; plus, experiencing food and wine pairing. The participants also gained some insights; as the Outlet Manager herself, Ms Kay Chong, conducted a session and shared her experience about wine tasting and managing a wine bar. This event not only strengthened the bond between Committee and Club Members, but it also ingrained the element of fun, within an educational outing.

[SIGNATURE EVENT] HOSTING 101

Saturday, 24 October 2015 | Culinary Suite, Pastry Suite & Thyme Restaurant, Taylor's University

It is often seen glamorously depicted in movies, whereby aristocrats host and invite their guests over for lunch or dinner. Hence, Taylor’s Wine and Dine Club decided to take this opportunity to organize a workshop that reveals the behind-the-scenes of hosting a house party! The event was held on the 24th October 2015, within Taylor’s University Thyme & Tarragon Restaurants and Culinary Suites.

This event teaches participants the fundamentals in Hosting 101. Club Members learned how to cook a 3-course meal, prepared mocktails, set a table and the picked up a thing or two about dining etiquette.

Our gratitude goes to award-winning chefs; Chef Diana Cornwell Neowcharurn, Chef Massyittah Omar and Chef Ashwin Nicholas Oon; who coached the participants in regards of kitchen operations; the award-winning bartender, Ms Fatema Firoz, who guided the participants in bartending and mocktail-making; as well as Ms Jasmine Chen, our club advisor who demonstrated the elegant techniques of dining etiquette.

APPRECIATION DINNER

Saturday, 27 June 2015 | Tossed Jaya

After serving for a year, it is time to celebrate and appreciate all the hardwork that has been done by the past batch of committee members. Here, the older and newer committee members will come together to have dinner and the club advisor will present their Certificates of Recognition for their contribution within Taylor's Wine And Dine Club. Besides, organising the appreciation dinner would serve as the first for the new term of committee members who will be seen leading the club in the future. This is also one of the ways to measure their leadership capabilities. The event went smoothly with great cooperation between the current president and vice-president.

"Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well."

-Voltaire

COMMITTEE OUTING

Wednesday, 23 September 2015 | Strangers At 47
Friday, 20 November 2015 | Omakase + Appreciation

The continuous growth of our learning curves is an important aspect that should consciously be nurtured. Taylor's Wine and Dine Club deeply believes that our Committee Members could draw on valuable life lessons, when exposed to real life depiction of experiences. Having that idea, we took the effort to contact Taylor’s Alumni; who successfully ventured into entrepreneurship upon graduation. As we listened to the experiences and practical advices shared by them, it struck a chord in us that our learning will never cease, but will persist even after we bid adieu to our alma maters.

CHRISTMAS PARTY GATHERING

Thursday, 3 December 2015 | Sunway Court

As Christmas approaches, so are our final examinations, and with that stress slowly builds up as well. After weathering through half of the term together, the Talent Management department of Taylor’s Wine and Dine Club took the initiative to arrange a Christmas party gathering and a Secret Santa gift exchange, for the Committee Members. Throughout the night, we kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed the food and heartwarming company of one another. Moreover, we also utilised this opportunity to plan out and agree upon the club’s direction for the next half-term and ended it with an early announcement of the protégés who will proceed to succeed the Executive Committees and Board of Directors, for the coming term.

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other."

-Burton Hillis
